Blake & Chelsea — Hamilton Island Wedding

Blake & Chelsea — Hamilton Island Wedding

Some love stories don’t follow a traditional timeline — and that’s exactly what makes them so meaningful.

For Blake and Chelsea, their journey unfolded naturally, guided by instinct rather than expectation. Introduced by mutual friends at the Broken Hill North Football Club, they connected instantly — a feeling that would carry them through the years ahead.

Their Story

Over the past nine years, Blake and Chelsea have built a life together in their own way. They moved in together, welcomed their first daughter, built their dream home, and later celebrated the arrival of their second.

“You could say we’ve always known we were right for each other,” Chelsea reflects. Through every high and low, they’ve faced life side by side — growing stronger with each chapter.

The Proposal

Blake’s proposal was thoughtful, relaxed, and completely unexpected.

After taking Chelsea out for lunch, he suggested they head out to his family’s station, advising her to wear suitable shoes as they’d be walking up a hill. Distracted by the sweeping countryside — and navigating the rocky climb in heeled boots — she didn’t suspect a thing.

At the top, surrounded by expansive views of the Broken Hill landscape, they paused to take it all in. As Chelsea turned to soak in the moment, she found Blake down on one knee.

A proposal framed by open skies, quiet beauty, and a moment neither of them will ever forget.

The Wedding Day

Ceremony: Chapel Gardens, Hamilton Island
Reception: Beach Pavilion, Hamilton Island

Their wedding was a coastal destination celebration, with palm trees and ocean air setting the tone for a day that felt both relaxed and refined.

Choosing to keep the celebration intimate made it even more meaningful. Surrounded by the people who had been part of their journey from the beginning, every moment carried a deeper sense of connection and significance.

The Jewellery

Chelsea wore a newly designed engagement ring alongside both her wedding band and Blake’s, all created at James Thredgold.

In a thoughtful gesture, Blake surprised her during the wedding band process by asking if she would like a new engagement ring. Together, they selected a beautiful oval diamond and designed a ring that would become her wedding gift on the day.

Why This Design

Chelsea had always been drawn to the oval diamond — a shape she describes as timeless and elegant.

The design process focused not just on the ring itself, but on how it would evolve over time. The setting was carefully considered to sit perfectly alongside her wedding band, while also allowing space for a future eternity ring.

Special Details

The oval diamond is set slightly higher, allowing it to catch the light effortlessly.

“I love how it twinkles as it moves,” Chelsea shares. “It always takes me back to our wedding day in our favourite place.”

What It Means to Her

The ring represents far more than the moment it was given.

“It holds the past nine years — the love we’ve shared, the life we’ve built, and the memories that brought us to this point. It feels like my fairytale ring, perfectly paired with my fairytale story.”

Advice for Other Couples

“Choosing your rings together makes it even more special. It allows you to create something that truly reflects your story.

Having some ideas beforehand helps, but the team at James Thredgold were incredible — offering guidance and suggestions that helped us create something perfect.”
